Agon was born from a deeply personal place. Director Robert Budina, himself a former immigrant in Italy, wanted to explore the complexities of the Albanian immigrant experience in Greece. The initial inspiration came from a heated family debate about how far one must go to succeed in a foreign land — whether staying morally clean is even possible when trying to “break through” in a hostile environment.
