While mainstream Kerala culture is celebrated for arts like Kathakali and Kalaripayattu, its spiritual fabric is woven with diverse ritualistic traditions. Thodukuri Sastram belongs to the "intangible heritage" of the region, similar to Kutiyattam or Theyyam in its local importance.
In this system, a seeker approaches the astrologer with a specific question or a deep desire to know about their future. Instead of calculating the positions of the stars at birth, the practitioner utilizes a specialized grid, a consecrated chart, or specific bodily energy points. The seeker is asked to touch a specific point on a chart or diagram without looking. The exact spot touched by the seeker acts as a gateway to their subconscious energy, allowing the practitioner to decode the answer to their query. The Core Principles and Methodology

The seeker must approach the system with a clear, singular question in mind (e.g., questions regarding health, marriage, lost wealth, career, or litigation). They usually clear their mind and offer a silent prayer to their personal deity ( Upasana Devatha ).
