The Spy Kids franchise was born out of a clever idea by writer and producer Alex Rodriguez, who teamed up with Dimension Films to bring the concept to life. The first film, simply titled "Spy Kids," was released in 2001 and introduced viewers to a family of siblings who become spies to save their parents, also spies, from the clutches of a villainous mastermind.

Expanded the lore to introduce rival spy kids (Gary and Gerti Giggles) and paid homage to classic Ray Harryhausen stop-motion creature features on a mysterious, cloaked island. Spy Kids
