If the Media Creation Tool fails, Microsoft allows direct downloading of the ISO file. Go to the Download Windows 8.1 page. Select and click Confirm . Select your language (e.g., English) and click Confirm . Choose 64-bit Download . Save the .iso file to your computer.
You cannot simply find the "Media Creation Tool" on the front page of Microsoft.com anymore. You need the direct link.

: Scroll down to the Select Edition dropdown menu. Choose Windows 8.1 (this covers both the standard and Pro configurations) and click Confirm .
