The Two Door Cinema Club gained significant recognition in 2010 with the release of their debut album, self-titled "Tourist History." The album was produced by Matt Furmidge and was released on March 1, 2010, through the label 14th Floor Records.

Mixing duties were handled at the newly built Motorbass studio in Paris by Philippe Zdar, the legendary French producer who had just finished working on Phoenix’s Grammy‑winning Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix . Zdar reportedly struggled to decipher the band’s Northern Irish accents for the first couple of days, but once communication flowed, he helped elevate the album to its final, polished form. As he later told NME, “Their stuff was already tight – I was just able to give big bass, big highs, and something a bit large!”
