Using a (14mm for most TSI applications), carefully loosen the nuts at both the common rail end and the injector end of the high-pressure pipes.

Once removed, you will see a black, hard carbon crust on the tip.

Gently rock the fuel rail while pulling to release the injectors.

Locate the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box. Remove it, crank the engine for a few seconds until it stalls, and turn off the ignition.

: This is the most significant part of the job. Detach the air filter housing and engine cover.
