R.C. Chandna is a distinguished Indian geographer, formerly associated with Punjab University in Chandigarh. He played a foundational role in establishing population geography as a distinct field of study in India. Chandna co-authored the first Indian textbook on the subject, Introduction to Population Geography (1980), with Manjit S. Sidhu. He is also the author of the comprehensive A Geography of Population: Concepts, Determinants and Patterns (1986) and a two-volume series, Geography of Population: Concepts, Determinants and World Patterns .
