Inside your ET-2650, there is a spongy absorbent pad that collects excess ink from cleaning cycles and borderless printing. Epson programmed the printer to count every drop that hits this pad. After thousands of prints, the printer assumes the pad is saturated and shuts down to prevent ink from leaking inside the machine. This is a genuine hardware safety feature.

Every time your ET-2650 cleans its printheads or primes the ink system, a small amount of ink is purged. This excess ink is directed into a physical sponge located at the bottom of the printer, known as the waste ink pad.
