Use thicker lines for outer silhouettes and areas in deep shadow.
A major component of successful stylization is simplification. Instead of getting lost in microscopic skin textures, view the human face as a collection of geometric planes.
Why? Because realism asks you to copy what you see. Stylization asks you to invent, edit, and exaggerate what you know.
